More details

When you arrive at Shelter 2, please check in at the registration table, sign a waiver and receive a paddler wristband. Pledges can be turned in at that time if you have any collected offline.

After registration, paddlers will be shuttled to the put-in to begin the paddle. If you are bringing your own boat, outfitters will help you load it onto a shuttle. If you are renting a boat, it will be waiting for you at the put-in. Let us know if you need a boat and have not signed up for one asap.

We will have coffee, donuts and water refills available at Shelter 2.

Please bring-

Clothing for the weather (layers are recommended, also a hat)

  • Water shoes and rain poncho or gear in case we get a shower
  • A dry bag for items you don't want to get wet
  • Refillable bottle of water
  • Sunscreen
  • Snacks for you that include protein (power bars are a good choice) and/or a bag lunch - we anticipate about a 4-hour paddle

The paddle will end at Tanglewood Park where outfitters and volunteers will help you with your boat. We will then begin shuttling to Shelter 2 for the Paddle-A-thon Celebration. Shelter 2 is about a mile and half from the river, so we are working to make this process as smooth as possible. Please take all personal gear with you back to Shelter 2 upon completion of the paddle.

Note: Personal Flotation Devices (PFD's) are REQUIRED for all paddlers. PFD's are included in your kayak or canoe rental; however, if you are supplying your own boat, please bring a PFD. All paddlers are required to sign a waiver; if you have a minor child, the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Disclaimer: All Yadkin Riverkeeper Paddle Trips are subject to change. Times and availability are flexible due to weather, floodgauges, and other circumstances beyond our control. Please allow extra time based on river conditions. All ending times are estimates. Please keep in mind that paddle trips average 3 miles per hour once on the water.

If you have any questions, please email judi@yadkinriverkeeper.org or call (336) 722-4949.
